Jade has been treasured for thousands of years. In ancient China, it was considered more valuable than gold. The Maori of New Zealand carved it into ancestral figures called hei tiki, worn on ceremonial occasions. The Mayans wore jade amulets to guard against illness. And for centuries, it has been known as the "Stone of the Flank" piedra de hijada in Spanish, for its traditional association with kidney health and healing.
