Opalite is a trade name for a type of man-made glass designed to simulate the appearance of moonstone or opal. It is created by fusing dolomite and metal oxides at extremely high temperatures. The glass is then cooled rapidly, creating a smooth, translucent material with a characteristic blue-white sheen.

Opalite is not a natural crystal. It is the glass equivalent of cubic zirconia — beautiful, affordable, and completely man-made.
